Right up to the 1980's, traditional sign painters would apply ornate decorative lines and scroll designs to trade vehicles and sign boards as part of their everyday working practice.
With the move to vinyl signage aided by the computer revolution a lot of these skills have died out, as the demand for fast colourful instant signs became the norm.
With the resurgence of interest in hand applied graphics being created by the kustom automotive scene, demand for traditional signwriting is resurfacing and many sign companies are revisiting the old skills of gilding, pinstriping & hand-lettering to integrate into their projects.
As part of our promise to be a truly interactive exhibition, Pinstriping UK will be carrying our regular pinstriping demonstrations throughout the show. You can also try your own hand and have a go at this fascinating art form.
Pinstriping UK will exhibit alongside Pinstriping & Kustom Graphics Magazine, the UK's only magazine dedicated to airbrushing, pinstriping and lettering for the kustom enthusiasts.
Lynda Johnson, Editor of Pinstriping & Kustom Graphics Magazine, says: "We have exhibited this art before, and it always proves to be very popular among sign makers. We always enjoy discussing our craft and sharing skills with those in a similar
industry."
The bi-monthly magazine was launched in March 2007 showcasing the best in UK & EU pinstriping & airbrush talent and is packed with features, interviews, Hints and Tips and How To's from the best artists.
The Sign Show will unite and showcase all aspects of this varied industry, and give you the opportunity to view art forms that you do not experience in your day-to-day business.
